Sierra Vista- Virginia D. (Gibson) Mohs, passed away on August 6, 2024. Virginia was born in Bald Knob, Arkansas on March 7, 1925 and was the daughter of the late Amanda (Dye) Gibson and Henry Gibson.
She served in the United States Navy from April 1945 to December 1945 and then enlisted in the United States Army from October 1951 to January 1967. She later served in the United States Reserves from August 1974 to August 1984. Her Military service took her to Tokyo Army Hospital Japan, Germany, and several posts within the United States. During her career she received the following awards: Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Korean Service Medal, U.N. Service Medal.
Virginia served as secretary of the VFW 5077 O'Fallon, MO and VFW Post 9972 , Life member.
In addition to Virginia's military service, she also raised two twin daughters and supported her husband Richard throughout his Military career. She was a devoted wife and mother.
Virginia was preceded in death by her mother, father, sisters, Mary, Ruth, Melda, Louise, and Peggy Jeane, and her brothers, Herman, Truman, and Henry, Jr.
She is survived by her husband Richard Mohs, and their daughters Mary (Michael) Flaherty of Corona, California and Helen (Bill) Wilkinson of Durango Colorado.
Family and friends are asked to meet on Friday, August 9, 2024 at 9:30 AM at the Southern Arizona Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 1300 Buffalo Soldier Trail, followed by Committal Services with Military Honors in the cemetery chapel at 10:00 AM.
