It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Thomas Herbert Shibe, who was born on March 20, 1937, in Camden, New Jersey, and departed this life on February 8, 2026. Thomas passed peacefully, surrounded by his beloved family.
Thomas was a proud veteran of the United States Army, serving more than 20 years with distinction. He was assigned to the Army Security Agency (ASA, SIGINT) and served duty in Beirut, Lebanon; Rome, Italy; Harrogate, England; White Sands, New Mexico; Fort Devens, Massachusetts; Fort Huachuca, Arizona; Korea; Nuremburg, Germany and Shemya Island, Alaska. Following his military retirement, Thomas continued his service at Fort Huachuca, transporting fellow soldiers as a post transportation bus driver. He deeply valued his time in the Army and had a genuine love and respect for his fellow soldiers.
Outside of his military service, Thomas enjoyed spending time on the golf course and bowling with his wife, particularly during their years overseas. He was a talented golfer who won many tournaments throughout his life. A devout Catholic, he faithfully served as a lector at Kino Chapel, Fort Huachuca and he was a Third Degree Knight with the Knights of Columbus.
He is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Celia “Sally” Shibe; his son, Michael Thomas Shibe (Doris) of Tucson, Arizona; his daughters, Teresa Ann Erickson (William) of Arlington, Texas, and Maryann McArdle of Enterprise, Alabama; his sister, Mary Alice (Visvanathan) Chandramouli of Mayfield Village, Ohio; his niece, Debbie Durdella; his nephew, Ravi Chandramouli; his grandchildren, Meghan Clark, Jennifer Riddle, Mallory Bourland, Cale McArdle, and Ross Erickson; and twelve great-grandchildren. Thomas was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Anderson Shibe and Elva May Jennings Shibe.
