Theresa Maria (Zappia) Politi

Theresa Maria Politi, 95, resident of Whetstone, AZ, passed away on November 24, 2025, at the Carondelet St. Joseph’s Hospital in Tucson, Arizona.  Theresa was born on September 4, 1930, in Bombile, Reggio Calabria, Italy to Leonardo Zappia and Catarina Pezzano.

Theresa came to the United States in March 1958 when her now deceased husband, Nicola Politi, was able to save enough money to bring her and their sons, Dominic and Leonardo, and their daughter, Antoinette, to start a new life in Carnegie, PA;  her youngest son, Vincent, was born in the United States in 1959.

Theresa and Nicola moved to Whetstone, Arizona from Carnegie, PA in March 1985 where Nicola resided for 14 years and Theresa resided for 40 years.

Theresa is survived by her 4 children - her eldest son, Dominic Politi of Whetstone, AZ; son, Leonardo Politi of Mars, PA; daughter, Antoinette Boehm of Venetia, PA and son, Vincent Politi of Gibsonia, PA. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren - Dominic Jr., Diana and Nicole (Dominic); Milan, Lia, Lee and Marissa (Leonardo); Theresa (Antoinette); Mario and Mila (Vincent) and 14 great grandchildren – Mario, Liam, Kaleb and Erik (Nicholas - Deceased); Isabella and Sarah (Dominic Jr.); Addison and Vivian (Theresa); Giancarlo and Marciano (Mila); Gemma and Cleo (Milan); Mateo and Olivia (Mario); as well as 1 great-great grandchild – Maddisen Kay (Kaleb).

An open-casket viewing will be held at the Hatfield Funeral Home, 830 South Highway 92, Sierra Vista, AZ, on Monday, December 8, 2025, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.; a Rosary Service will be held at 11:30 a.m. followed by a Memorial Mass at 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 9, 2025, at Saint Andrews Catholic Church, 800 Taylor Drive, Sierra Vista, AZ. Interment will be after the Memorial Mass at the Cochise Memory Gardens,5590 Charleston Road, Sierra Vista, AZ 85635 where Theresa will be laid to rest next to her husband, Nicola, and grandson, Nicholas Dominic.
