Charles Arthur Rust, age 91, of Sierra Vista, Arizona passed away in his home on September 24, 2022.
He was born November 3, 1930 in Loudoun, Virginia the youngest child and only son of the late Kemper Clay and Irene Hardy Rust. Charles was a career member of the United States Air Force with tours in Korea, Viet Nam and Bermuda among others.
Charles took great interest in his car collection and motorcycles. His great love was serving in the Air Force and keeping his military uniform in spit-shine condition.
In addition to his parents, Charles was pre-deceased by his sisters, Elizabeth Louise Howser of Leesburg, VA., Helen Marie Swank of Manassas, VA., and Ellen Marguerite Hope of Frederick, MD.
Survivors include his wife, To Thi Rust and their daughters Betty A. Salazar of Lynden, Washington, and Mary A. Howard of West Vancouver, BC Canada. Charles is also survived by his former wife Mary Stoops of Cape Coral, Fla. and their daughters Carla Thompson and Darla Luther both of Cape Coral, FL. Survivors also include his close nephew Ronald Richard Howser of Winchester, VA, Dale Swank Summers of Matthews, NC., Linda Mann of Frederick, MD., Bonnie Eilertson of Atlanta, GA., along with numerous other great nieces and nephews.
The committal service with honors will take place at the Southern Arizona Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery, 1300 S. Buffalo Soldier Trail, Sierra Vista, Arizona 85635 for Thursday, October 6, 2022 at 12 Noon.
