Susan Kay Nichols 
May 26, 1954 ~ July 25, 2025

Suzie Nichols of Hereford, AZ died peacefully in her sleep on July 25, 2025 at Copper Queen Community Hospital. 

Suzie was born in Odessa, TX and grew up in Hobbs, NM.

Suzie graduated Hobbs High School at 16 years old going straight into college at University of Arizona with a bachelor’s in Bio-Chemisty. Then went onto New Mexico State University for a Bachelor’s in Education. Started teaching in Dallas/Fort Worth, TX area for 35 years while earning a Masters at Texas A&M in Education Administration. She could have moved up into administration of the school districts in the Dallas/Fort Worth area but she loved teaching children more.

Suzie earned her pilots license during her teaching time. Certified white water kayak instructor. Had learned to parachute as well. Suzie is preceded in death by her parents, Joseph Nichols and Vinnie Nichols.

Suzie is survived by her husband Robert Powell (Hereford, AZ), son Nick Thomas (Dale, TX), daughter Jennifer Wallgren (Jacksonville, OR), daughter Genna King (Arlington, TX), daughter Tanya Sebring (Arlington, TX), two brothers, Joseph and James Nichols; and six grandchildren.
