Steve Ritchie, 75, peacefully passed away on October 15, 2023 after a heroic fight with cancer. Born in Cynthiana, Kentucky to Allen and Viola Ritchie, Steve was the second oldest of six brothers.
Steve was fiercely passionate about fishing and being outdoors from the start and dedicated his life to, both, his pursuit of nature, and his family.
After he graduated, Steve was drafted to the United States Army where he was an MP for two years. This kickstarted a career in protecting others where he would later join the Sierra Vista Police Department.
While in the military Steve met the love of his life, Kathy and went on to have two children, Helen McBee and Stephanie Mann. Steve always put family first, and was a dedicated husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and uncle. Steve was a strong, kind, loving, and supportive man. His knowledge and guidance was the foundation of his family and will always be remembered as a legend to the community and a hero in our hearts.
Steve was a passionate fisherman and enthusiast. He spent most of his retirement on the lake or with family and friends.
Steve was predeceased by his parents, and his wife, Kathy. Steve leaves behind his daughters; Helen and Stephanie (Ronald Jr.), his “second son”, Paul Griffin (Tammy), grandchildren; Ronald Mann III (Rachael), Jessica Nosbusch (Shan), Shauna Mann, Katti Mann, Rachel Chavez, and Steven Mann (Rachel), ten great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Family and friends are respectfully invited to attend the funeral service for Steve, which will be held at Southern Arizona Veterans Cemetery (1300 S. Buffalo Soldier Trail) on Thursday, November 9, 2023, beginning at 10:00 AM.
Reception to follow at the American Legion (12 Theater Drive) at 11 am.
