Stephen Jacob Preble
July 23, 1953 – August 25, 2025
Steve Preble passed away on August 25, 2025, at the age of 72. Born in Buffalo, New York, to Stephen and Georgine Preble, Steve has a sister named Penny.
In the early 1980s, Steve moved his young family to Sierra Vista, Arizona. There, he worked as a backhoe operator, custom home builder, and was a friend to everyone lucky enough to know him.
He was a proud dad to Kristin (Duke) Preble, Stephenie (Waldy) Jackson, and K.D. Preble, and a loving grandpa (Dumpy) to Holdyn Jackson Paige Marcy. He especially treasured his time with grandson Holdyn—and his dog Boobie—whether fishing, shooting, riding motorcycles, or taking trips to Tombstone.
Steve loved the outdoors and was happiest with a fishing rod in hand or the open road beneath his wheels. Known for his strong opinions, especially about politics, he never hesitated to speak his mind—with passion, humor, and heart.
His warmth, strength, and friendly spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Family and friends will gather for a pig roast in his honor on September 6th at 3:00 PM at Tompkins Park in Sierra Vista. Everyone who knew Steve is invited to celebrate his life by spending time outdoors—maybe on a bike ride or with a fishing rod—doing what he loved best.
