Stephanie Onley Obituary

Stephanie Crystal Onley died peacefully in her sleep on 05/15/2024. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her. She was 61 years young. Stephanie was born on August 11, 1962, in Moultrie, GA. She joined the military in February of 1980. She gave 6 years of Military service before she was honorably discharged. Following her Military career, she devoted 27 years to civil service as a HR specialist and rose through the ranks from a GS-3 to a GS-12. She was proud of her career and loved what she did, often choosing to come out of retirement temporarily on occasion.

While serving in the Military in Fort Richie, MD, she met the love of her life, Lewis James Onley Jr. They married on June 11th, 1982. They were together for 42 years and share 3 children and 1 grandchild. Stephanie lived a fulfilled life, traveling across the world from Colorado, Maryland and twice to Germany before settling in Sierra Vista, Arizona in 1995.

Stephanie was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She loved shopping, of course, and would often hide clothes in the trunk of the car or the back of the closet so her husband would not see. It’s starting to make sense now, why she took the two closets in the back of the house versus the one in her bedroom. She spared no expense on her hair and getting pedicures for herself and all us girls in the family. After all, there were 5 girls, sorry Dad you were outnumbered, greatly. Girl time was the best time. She loved to read and do crossword puzzles. She enjoyed watching Law & Order, Real Housewives, and her PEOPLE magazines, always staying up to date on the latest gossip. She was also the neighborhood watch, not officially or anything, but whatever could be seen through those blinds she would report to us. Seemed like she always knew before the papers what was occurring. She was funny, vibrant, and charming with a killer smile. She was a special soul who was often called an Angel by many people she met. There were too many times to count when we would see her friends and coworkers around town and they insisted on stopping to tell us what an amazing mom we had and to cherish her.  Their stories of what they loved about my mom and how she impacted their lives are memories we will hold with us forever.       She was here, she lived, she loved, she rests.

She is survived by her loving and devoted Husband, Lewis James Onley Jr, her daughters, Tamara Onley, Tamika Onley, and Leslie Onley, and her favorite granddaughter, Janiya Onley along with the Onley Family.
