Stephanie Ahrens Obituary

Stephanie Diane Pollock Moore Ahrens, age 53, born March 6th 1970, passed away March 11th 2023 at Canyon Vista Medical Center in Sierra Vista, Arizona after acquiring pneumonia. She leaves behind her husband of 22 years, Norman Ahrens, 3 children, sons Tyler Moore (Kendra) of Fort Scott, Kansas, RJ Ahrens of Andover, Minnesota, and daughter Lainey Ahrens of Sierra Vista, Arizona. Stephanie also leaves behind two grandsons Rylan and Rowan Moore both of Fort Scott, Kansas and a step-granddaughter Elizabeth Thompson of Topeka, Kansas. Also surviving are 4 brothers,  2 sisters, and 2 step-brothers, Lou Frere (Monica) of Redding, California. Lee (Stacy) and Joey (Sabrina) Federico both of Yuba City, California. John Frere (Aurora) of Dolan Springs, Arizona. Renai Durst (Jimmy) of Spokane, Washington, and Corina Brown (Tom) of McAlester, Oklahoma. Rory Kempf (Cindy) of Golden Valley, Arizona and Lonny Kempf of Gold Hill, Oregon. Stephanie was preceded in death by her first husband Dave Moore, her mother Anna Kampf, 3 sisters, Marion Lewis, Benai Frere, and Loretta Federico, and one step-brother Monty Kempf.

Stephanie was born in Boston, Massachusetts but lived most of her childhood in Phelan, California. Stephanie moved to Fort Scott, Kansas where she met and married her first husband Dave Moore in 1986. Following Dave’s death in 1990, Stephanie built her life in Fort Scott making many friends along the way. In 2001 Stephanie moved to Sierra Vista, Arizona, shortly thereafter Norm Ahrens also moved to Sierra Vista and they were married on November 3rd, 2001.

Stephanie was class of 1988 and attended Uniontown High School in Uniontown, Kansas. Stephanie worked as a CNA at Mercy Hospital and Prescott Country View Nursing Home. She also worked as a substitute para for the local school district. She worked for 5 years at Value Merchandisers in Fort Scott before attending Fort Scott Community College to pursue her degree in cosmetology.

After moving to Sierra Vista, Stephanie began working as a financial eligibility interviewer for the state of Arizona’s Medicaid program where she served the state for 10 years. Stephanie had a passion for volunteering and did volunteer work as a long term care ombudsman for the elderly in southern Arizona. Stephanie was also a court appointed special advocate for needy and at risk children in Cochise County. Stephanie was also a volunteer gift shop manager at the Henry Hauser Museum in Sierra Vista.

Stephanie’s biggest passion in life was her family, her children and grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at New Hope Fellowship 5420 E Desert Shadows Dr

Sierra Vista, AZ on Thursday March 16th at 12:00pm. An additional service will be held in Fort Scott, Kansas at a later date.
