Shirley a daughter of the late Loren H. and Helen N. (Graham) Billingsley was born in Maidstone, Saskatchewan, Canada on May 9, 1935.
Shirley trained as a Registered Nurse at the University of Saskatchewan in Saskatoon where her family had relocated. She started her nursing career in Victoria, Texas and later became a United States Citizen.
She then moved to California and then to Las Vegas where she met her husband. He was a contractor working as a physicist for the military and they moved quite frequently. Shirley had various nursing jobs in all of the 17 states they lived in. Her husband's last posting was at Fort Huachuca. He died shortly after moving there.
Shirley went to live in Bellingham, Washington to be near her brothers in Vancouver, British Columbia. She met her husband Bill Brouwer through a beekeeping class at the Community College. Shirley and Bill moved to Sierra Vista, Arizona in 2017 and built a new hacienda in Hereford, Arizona.
Shirley was a serious gardener, a lover of kitties ( and all wildlife). She was an accomplished artist, and an ardent reader. Shirley was a Christian who loved Jesus as her Savior and was a member of Faith Presbyterian Church when she died.
Shirley had a great sense of humor and made fast friends with many people. She believed that kindness towards others would make the world a better place and tried to practice what she believed.
Shirley loved to decorate and put on dinner parties. She will be greatly missed by her husband Bill, her loving cat, Lucy, several nieces and nephews, and her many many friends.
See you later my dear Sweet Pea!
