Shawn Kay Reeves McFadden
February 9, 1959 – January 1, 2023
Shawn Kay Reeves McFadden was born at Scott Air Force Base in Belleville, Illinois. As it just so happened she came into this world and departed both on stormy mornings, which is not surprising at all. She was raised as a military brat traveling around the world with her Mom, Dad, and 5 siblings. First and most importantly, Shawn was a woman of God. She loved the Lord with all of her heart, mind, soul, and strength, and she made it a point to love her neighbor as herself. She shared the gospel of Jesus with anyone who would listen and even with those who didn’t want to hear it. After God was her family. She was a devoted mother, daughter, granny-grandma-Boobadoo, sister, and friend. She loved to love on people, especially those who didn’t get the love they deserved from others. Shawn was one of the most authentic and genuine people you could ever know. She had the biggest heart and would give all she had to someone in need. Shawn was very eclectic yet she valued the simple things in life, like creating a family memory or having breakfast with friends. She loved kids, but “didn’t play!” However, she did love to play with her spoiled grand-dogs.
Shawn was an educated woman. She received various degrees from Cochise College, Wayland Baptist University, and was a few credits shy of her Master’s degree in psychology at University of Phoenix. Throughout her life She worked hard, and trusted God to make her way in this world. She worked her way from a single mother with barely two pennies to rub together to retiring as a GS13. She didn’t always have an easy life, but she kept a sunny disposition and never let go of her faith. In the words of her favorite song:
“Let her cry, for she’s a lady, Let her dream, for she’s a child
Let the rain fall down upon her, She’s a free and gentle flower, growing wild”
(Wildflower, Edwards & Richardson, 1972)
Shawn is by survived her mother, Annie Reeves; three of her siblings, Wilard, Donna, and Jamie; her two Daughters, Aisha (Sunny) and Sonja (Brian); 8 grandchildren, Malaysia, Milan, Marseille, Monaco, Ashiah, Ahnia, Akirah, ZahVargo; 1 great-grandson, London, other family members and long time friends. She was proceeded to heaven by her father, Clarence Reeves; 2 brothers Derek and Ervie, and her daughter, Azara. Shawn Kay Reeves McFadden will be missed beyond measure.
“For I know the thoughts that I think towards you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.”
Jeremiah 29:11
