Sarah K. Chambers
Sarah known by many as “Kathy” was born on February 15, 1950, in Pearisburg, Virginia. She went to meet her heavenly father on February 21, 2025, at age 75. A private ceremony was held at Hatfields Funeral Home in Sierra Vista, AZ on March 20, 2025, and she was laid to rest at Fort Huachuca Post Cemetery.
Sarah Katherine, the daughter of Albert J. and Virginia A. (Johnson) Pyles. She is the youngest of five sisters. Her best friends and sisters, Betty Lou and (Louis “Slick”) Lotts of Richmond, VA, Alberta Virginia and (Doug) Martin of Pearisburg, VA, Mildred and (Steve) Popp of Pearisburg, VA, and Sue and (JD) Fletcher of Roanoke, VA.
She grew up in Pearisburg, VA and graduated from Giles High School in 1968. In 1969 she married William N. Chambers in North Carolina together they welcomed three children, William II, Sean and Gina. The family moved many times with being an Army family. The last place the family lived was Sierra Vista, AZ. One of her favorite places they went during the family’s Army travels was Germany, she loved to talk about Germany, it was beautiful to watch her face light up and you could hear the happiness in her voice when she spoke about it. She also had a deep love for her cat, Kimmi.
Throughout the years in Sierra Vista, she worked at the Officers club on base before moving on to selling advertisements for the Huachuca Scout. She eventually went back to waitressing first at the Rustic Rail, which is now closed, and then at Denny’s. She spoke very highly of her job at Denny’s, especially about the new people she met while working. She loved the late-night customers.
Sarah’s family grew significantly over the years. She is survived by her son William II of Sierra Vista, AZ, her son Sean and (Shannon) Chambers of Faribault, MN. Together they have six children and one Grandson. Their children are Lauren Merrill of Faribault, MN, Jacob Chambers of Sierra Vista, AZ and his son Torin Caughey of Springtown, TX, Justis Chambers of Tucson, AZ, Alexis and (Ryan) Hamilton of Marana, AZ, Collin Bussert of Faribault, MN, and Hannah Chambers of Sierra Vista, AZ. Sarah’s daughter Gina and (Mike) Harry of Hephzibah, GA and together they have four children and four grandchildren. Their children are Julius and (Lauryn) Carr and son Jack of Tyler, TX, Brittany and (Caleb) Greene and sons Rowan and Hudson of Mountain Home, ID, Alexis Harry, and Micheala and (Xavier) Dawson and daughter Alaska both of Hephzibah, GA.
Sarah is preceded in death by her parents Albert and Virgina, two sisters Betty Lou and Alberta, brother in laws Louis, Doug, and JD, husband William N. Chambers, and grandchildren Lauren and Jacob.
