SSG, Jimmy Alden Vereen
United States Army, Retired
April 13, 1956 - September 12, 2022
SSG, Jimmy A. Vereen, son of the late Burroughs and Sarah Virginia Vereen, was born on April 13, 1956 in Mullins, South Carolina. He went home to be with the Lord on September 12, 2022.
Jimmy was educated in the Horry County Public Schools, and received his high school diploma from Myrtle Beach High School in 1974. Upon graduation, Vereen began his military career service in the United States Army. Among his 20 years of success, he carried out orders in Germany, Korea, Saudi Arabia, and Somalia. SSG Vereen retired to civilian life in 1994 and became a government contractor, a career which took him all over the world! He finally settled in Sierra Vista (Ft. Huachuca), Arizona and loved the desert life.
Jimmy had an infectious smile and lived a life without regrets. He loved thoroughly and had a generous heart. His retired life consisted of his passion for his vehicles. If you met Jimmy, you met his "Harley Davidson" truck and his '84 Camaro. I wouldn't be out of the ordinary to catch him sitting in his truck simply enjoying life.
Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents, Burroughs and Sarah Vereen; brother, Burroughs Vereen Jr.; and sisters, Willie Mae, Bertha Lee, and Donnis. Jimmy leaves in passing; two sisters, Helen Brown and Roggie McClair. He was a devoted Uncle, leaving behind many beloved nieces, nephews, neighbors, and friends.
With a heave heart, we farewell Jimmy into the open arms of the Lord. May he rest in peace and joy in Heaven. Thank you for your kindness and condolences. May Jimmy live on in joyful memories.
