Michael K. Darr, 74, of Sierra Vista, AZ passed away on July 13, 2024. Michael was born on May 28, 1950, in Seneca, KS to Margaret and Keith Darr and was raised in the community of Centralia, KS. Growing up he loved hunting, fishing, playing sports, and was active in scouting where he obtained Eagle Scout, his God and Country award, and was a member of the Order of Arrow. Michael enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1969 and after a break in service reentered the Army in 1973 and served until his retirement in 1991 as a Senior Noncommissioned Officer. He served on tour in Vietnam, two tours in Germany and various statewide assignments.

Mr. Darr was a Legacy life member of the VFW Post 9972 and was Post Commander in 2020-2021. He was also a life member of the American Legion Post 52, life member of the OV-1 Mohawk Association and 101st Airborne Division.

In 1996 he moved his family to Mesa, AZ where he began work for McDonald Douglas (Boeing) as a Logistics Specialist on the Apache Attack Helicopter. Michael held various positions with the company with the last 10 years as an International Logistics Support Program Manager. Michael retired from the Boeing Company in 2015.

Michael was preceded in death by death by his parents, a son James, and a nephew, Kevin. He is survived by his wife MaryEllen (Mel) of the home; son, Thomas (Ashley) of Gilbert, AZ; grandchildren, Isak and Danica of Gilbert, AZ; sister Kay Bryne (Stan) of Eudora, KS; nephews, Bradley and Brete (Julie) of Eudora, KS; and niece, Jennifer Gentry (Chad) of Rossville, KS.

A time of visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 17, 2024, at the Hatfield Funeral Home, 830 S Hwy 92, Sierra Vista, AZ from 5:00 to 8:00 PM. Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, July 18, 2024 at the Hatfield Funeral Home at 9:30AM, followed by the committal service with military honors at the Southern Arizona Veterans' Memorial Cemetery at 11:00 AM.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers that donations be made to James R "Bob" Currieo VFW Post 9972, located 549 Veterans Drive, Sierra Vista, AZ 85635, donations are requested to be made out to the "relief fund" to help care for veterans directly.

A celebration of life will be held after the committal service at the James R "Bob" Currieo VFW Post 9972, located 549 Veterans Drive, Sierra Vista, AZ 85635, at 12 Noon.
