Maxwell Cleveland Hilliard, 93, of Phoenix, passed away on September 12, 2021 in Surprise, AZ.
He was born on August 2, 1928 in Milton, Florida to Thomas and Jennie Hilliard. Maxwell proudly served in the United States Army, retiring as Sergeant First Class with 25 years of service. Some of the medals and awards he earned were the National Defense Service Medal with Oak Leaf cluster, the Vietnam Service Medal, the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal with Device, the Bronze Star Medal and the Good Conduct Medal Sixth Award.
He was a member of Faith Baptist Church located in Huachuca City, Arizona, where he served as a Deacon and a member of the choir.
Maxwell loved spending time with family and friends. He also enjoyed watching all kinds of sport on TV, and fishing trips in his free time.
Maxwell is survived by his loving daughters Christina (Dana) Hawkins of Phoenix and Girosalee Hilliard of Huachuca City and son Patrick Jackson of Milton, Florida; grandchildren, Arnecia, Armani, Dana Jr., Maxzell, Arceli, Jevon; step children Priscilla (Enock), Jonathan (Jennifer) Jonathan Jr, Jannae, Karina (Taylor) Adrien, Liway, Erick (Lyn) Aniya, Eloni, Eziah, Elianna, and many other extended family and friends.
Maxwell was also the last living member of his family, preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Jennie Hilliard; brothers, Harry, Leo, JT, and Johnny, sisters, Mammie, and Lucille.
Private Services with Military Honors will be held at the Southern Arizona Veterans' Memorial Cemetery, Sierra Vista, Arizona.
