Julie Ann Martin, 64, of Sierra Vista, AZ , passed away unexpectedly on October 17th, 2023.
Julie was born in Nisswa, Minnesota to the late Frank and Irene Hochmayr. She was raised in Nisswa and graduated from Brainerd high school. After graduating high school she attended an LPN course, shortly thereafter, she joined the U.S Army in 1979 continuing on in Nursing.
During her distinguished career she received numerous awards, some include, but not limited to: Meritorious service medal, army accommodation medal, army achievement medal, retired lapel button, National defense service medal, NCO course, expert field medical badge.
After 20 years of active duty service, she retired from the US Army in 1999. She immediately went back to government work with Raymond W. Bliss Medical Clinic on Ft. Huachuca. Julie was due to retire from civil service in November 2024.
Julie married the love of her life, Johnny Martin on March 1st, 1985. Together they have a blended family of 4 adult children, several grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild.
Julie’s happy place was in her gardens. Her “green thumb” was passed down from her mother and she was constantly working on her little piece of heaven. When she wasn’t in the gardens, you could find her on her motorcycle. She loved the sunshine and the wind on her face. Along with her husband and friends, she put thousands of miles on the bikes she owned over the years. Traveling all over the US and including into parts of Canada and Mexico.
Julie is survived by her loving husband, Johnny Martin, of almost 40 years; her children, Crystal Hembree (Jonathan), Zachary Martin (Summer), Joey Martin, Christina Goebel (Charles). Her 3 Brothers; Larry Hochmayr (Kris), David Hochmayr, Peter Hochmayr, and her Sister Susan Mead (Roger). Her beloved grandchildren: Harley, Jameson, Ryan, Justin, Anthony, Alicija and great grand baby Sage. As well as multiple nieces and nephews.
A time of gathering for family and friends will be held at Hatfield Funeral Home, located at 830 S. Hwy 92, Sierra Vista, AZ on Tuesday, October 24th, from 10am-11am with a memorial service and military honors starting at 11am. A celebration of life will immediately follow and details will be provided at the service..
