Roger Matthew Jackson
5/17/52 – 5-24/25
Roger Jackson was born on Nellis AFB in Las Vegas, NV on 5/17/52 to Robert and Irene Jackson. At the age of nineteen, Roger joined the United States Air Force as an Aircraft Control and Warning Radar Specialist. Roger’s military career lead him in many directions one being stationed at NORAD (North American Aerospace Defense Command) in Alaska and then was stationed at McClellan AFB in Sacramento, CA. In 1976 he was honorably discharged from the armed forces. He did one tour of Vietnam.
On April 12, 1977, Roger married the love of his life Faith Marie in a private ceremony in Reno, NV. Shortly after their marriage his wife then started her career in the United States Army. Their first duty station took them to Ft. Mead, MD where Roger worked civil service at the Pentagon. In 1978 they welcomed their daughter Marjorie. The next adventure found them stationed in Paso Robles, Ca and later in 1984 Ft. Huachuca was the last duty station, after falling in love with the area they made Sierra Vista, AZ their permanent home, to raise their daughter. Roger worked in the civil service for many years raising his daughter stateside while his wife PCSed a decision to not interrupt her schooling.
Roger played guitar for many years and played many shows at the then “Sorry Gulch” with his bandmates. He enjoyed his retirement years repairing and building vintage Guitars and Amps. He had a passion for building model planes, tanks and cars and competing in model Shows. He even wrote published articles for Airplane model magazines. Roger also loved his classic Chevelle and doing car shows with his late wife.
Roger is preceded in death by his parents Robert and Irene Jackson. He is survived by his daughter Marjorie Rhodes, his granddaughter Aria Jackson, his sister Carol (Mike) Kerton, his brother Tom Jackson and numerous nieces and nephews.
Roger was a great father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend to all. He loved his late wife with all his heart and with her passing in 2020 he always felt part of him went with her. He loved his daughter Marjorie and granddaughter Aria, being the man he was he taught them all he could throughout the years. He also loved his three cats who gave him years of companionship.
The family would like to thank Agape Hospice in Tucson, Az for the exceptional care they gave Roger in the last few weeks and Joseph Quartuccio for taking care of his cats while he had been gone.
