Richard ‘Richy’ Charles Green
August 30, 1970 - March 11, 2021
Richard ‘Richy’ Charles Green, loving son, brother and friend passed away on March 11th, 2021 at the age of 50. He had suffered from chronic debilitating migraines, other health issues and Covid-19.
He was born in Pocatello, Idaho on August 30, 1970 to Richard C. and Mary Ann (née Huyser) Green. His father was an Explosive Engineering Specialist for the Idaho National Laboratory and his mother was a professor of English at the University of Oregon.
At the age of 8, he moved to Oregon with his mother and sister, Kiersten. He graduated from South Eugene High School in 1988 and continued his education at Lane Community College. He then graduated from the University of New Mexico with a degree in Media Arts, Communications and Journalism in 2009.
Richy moved to Taos, NM in 1992 where he was part of the community. He built his home there (and an earth ship). In 2012 he moved to Bisbee, AZ, for health reasons.
Richy was an artist from an early age, with an inherited talent to draw and paint, for music and the guitar and played regularly in various venues in Bisbee and wherever he traveled. He was a Master carpenter and had been a journalist for the Bisbee Observer.
Richy explored all of life outside conventional society through his travels, photography, artwork, music and his gift of making and keeping lifelong friends who loved and adored him. He was deeply rooted in environmental issues and an activist for saving the natural world from the Climate Crisis. He created ‘The Richy Greenjeans Show’ a children’s program focused on recycling. He was known for his kind, compassionate, gentle soul and looking after others and his community.
Richy was preceded in death by his mother in June, 1999. He is survived by his father, Richard Charles Green of Pocatello, Idaho, his sisters Laura H. Lenée of Santa Monica, CA and Kiersten L. Huyser-Davis of Ségur-le-Château, France, his niece Marianne Huyser-Davis and nephew Sebastien Huyser-Davis, his stepfather Bruce Barnes and stepbrothers, Andrew Barnes and David Barnes, and their children of Eugene Oregon and his loving and faithful companion, his dog Chico.
A party to celebrate Richy’s full life will be held when Covid-19 restrictions are lifted.
