Our amazing father, husband, and grandpa Raymond Warren Levesque, Jr., 68, of Sierra Vista, passed away on August 15, 2024. Ray was born in Massachusetts on July 30, 1956 to the late Raymond Levesque, Sr. and Stephany Cole Levesque.
Ray lived in Sierra Vista until his graduation from Buena High School. He earned a History degree as a Wildcat from The University of Arizona, before receiving his master’s degree in Military History from King’s College London.
Ray followed in his father’s footsteps, serving honorably in the United States Army for 14 years on active duty as an intelligence officer, completing his military service with the rank of Major. Upon retiring from active duty with the Armed Forces, he continued working in Civil Service and as an Army Reserve Officer. Ray completely retired from his service to the country in 2019. Ray’s career of service took him and his family around the world to places like Honduras, El Salvador, Mexico, Guatemala, Panama, Germany, England, Bolivia, Paraguay, Brazil, and Columbia.
Ray also took an interest in model trains, building sophisticated train sets. As a voracious reader of military history, he designed intricate model war zones - constructing elaborate battlefields and painting figurines to replicate monumental moments from military history. Often in his spare time, Ray could be found engaging in “war games” with friends, putting the finishing touches on his latest locomotive, or reading yet another military history book from his extensive home library.
Ray’s larger-than-life personality and sharp wit made him the life of every party, and his genuine love of people made him a friend to all. But his family fulfilled him. His proudest roles were that of devoted husband, loving father, and his favorite, grandpa. Ray married the love of his life, Cindilee (Epperson) Levesque, on December 20, 1986, where they shared the best 38 years of his life. Ray was a loving father to his children Michelle Henretta (Brendan), Chris Levesque, Dale Levesque (Tammy), Bret Levesque (Ryan), and Alexa Staples. Ray was also a caring grandpa to 10 grandchildren, Ayden (23), Sadie (19), Savanna (16), Maddox (14), Dax (13), Liam (11), Peyton (11), Scarlett (10), Parker (7), Simon (3).
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Doug.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 24th, at 10am. It will be held at the LDS chapel at 1655 S Avenida del Sol, Sierra Vista, Arizona. The family requests attendees not wear black.
