Randall Thaxton Obituary

Randall D Thaxton was born in Moultrie, Georgia on November 2, 1949, to H. O. Thaxton and Eva Dell Riley Thaxton.  He was the third child of 8 children; Bobby L. Thaxton, Janice J. Thaxton, Susan D Thaxton, Zackery L. Thaxton, Terry F. Thaxton, James L. Thaxton and Marie I. Thaxton.

          Both parents preceded him in death; his mother Eva in 1979 and his father Otis in 1989. His sister, Marie preceded him in death in 2014.

          He met his loving wife, Susan A. Hansen, at Ft Monmouth, NJ in April 1971.  They were married later that year on December 18, 1971.  They were married for time and eternity in August 1974 in the Provo, Utah Temple.  His surviving children are Brian S. (Becky) of Shalimar, FL, Amy R. of Sierra Vista, AZ, Amanda J. (Mike), of Mosely, VA, Kristina S. (Keith) of Nampa, ID, and Jonathan T, of Sierra Vista, AZ.  He is also Poppop to 16 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.

          Randall has been a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints for 54 years.  He served two tours in Vietnam with the U.S. Army. He attended Moultrie Senior High School, he also attended BYU and Cochise College.   He worked for the Arizona Department of Corrections for 12 years. He also owned a successful business that he left to his son, Jonathan.

He passed from this life into the next phase of his eternal life on November 24, 2024 at the age of 75 after a long battle with MDS/cancer, surrounded by his loving family.
