Phoebe Rene Moses

Having spent the day surrounded by love and companionship of family and friends, Phoebe Rene Gillman Moses, age 86, passed away on June 4, 2025. She was the recent widow of Raymond Moses, Jr., who passed away on May 28, 2025.
She was the daughter of Lamberta Gayhart Gillman and Lon Gillman, Sr. She was born in Middletown Ohio on January 24, 1939 and during her lifetime called Ohio, West Virginia, Wisconsin, and Arizona home.
Her first and maybe favorite job at the age of 16 was at the Manchester Inn in Middletown. She went to work at Warwick Electronics in Zion, Illinois until closing. While there she fought the company and her union to be able to work in the service department. A job previously only available to male workers.
In 1973 she followed her mom and stepfather to Sierra Vista, Arizona, where she lived the remainder of her life. She started working at One Hour Martinizing in March of 1973. She eventually became the manager and in her later years was a partner in the business prior to its closing. In retirement she enjoyed tending her plants and feeding the many birds and wildlife who live in Ramsey Canyon and spending time with friends especially her faith sharing group and he mall luncheon ladies.
Phoebe loved her family with her whole being. She enjoyed baking cookies for all of her friends.
Phoebe is survived by her sisters, Ethel Townsend and Kathie Schweikart. Her stepdaughter, Renee (Mike) Cox, stepson, Shelly (Jenny) Rogers, granddaughter, Sally Cox, special friends, Joe Ford, Tom and Dee Whipp, Anni Tiemann and Dave Lapp. Many nieces and nephews, John Mable, Jamie, Terri, Pam, Angie, Ricky, Chrissy, Karen, Tim, Debbie, Brian, Dwayne, Johnny, Beth, Marlaine, and Alicia.
She was preceded in death by her parents and stepfather Tony Domingo, her brother Lon Gillman, Jr., and her sisters and their husbands Ilene (Jim), Henry and Virginia (John) Owens. Brothers-in-law John Schweikart and Wayne Townsend. She was a member of Our Lady of the Mountains Catholic Church.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, June 8, 2025 from 4 to 6 pm at the Hatfield Funeral Home, 830 South Highway 92, Sierra Vista. Recitation of the Rosary will be held Sunday evening at 5:30 pm at the funeral home.
Family and friends are asked to meet on Monday morning June 9, 2025 for a Celebration of Life and Mass on Christian Burial at Our Lady of the Mountains Catholic Church, 1425 East Yaqui Street, Sierra Vista, Arizona 85650, for Phoebe at 10:00 am.
A private burial will be held for Phoebe at the Southern Arizona Veterans Memorial Cemetery. In lieu of flowers please make donations to the All Saints Catholic School, Sierra Vista, Arizona.
