Peggy Marie Francois !
November 26 1939 - August 14 2024!
Peggy M Francois, age 84, a 23 year resident of Sierra Vista and a 27 year resident of Douglas
Arizona, entered into Gods embrace on August 14th, 2024. Born November 26th, 1939 in
Ramsey, Illinois to Manuel and Elsie Cothern, Peggy went on to dedicate herself to a lifelong
career in nursing after completing a program from Decatur and Macon County Hospital,
Decatur, IL in 1960. In 1969, Peggy became a Chief Nurse Anesthetist at Fayette County
Hospital in Vandalia, IL and shortly thereafter relocated with her husband to Southeastern
Arizona where she would go on to serve as Chief Anesthetist at Douglas Hospital, Douglas, AZ.
Finally, Peggy would serve for 32 years as Chief Anesthetist at Copper Queen Community
Hospital, Bisbee, AZ after finally retiring in 2010.!
Peggy was preceded in death by her loving husband of 37 years, William B Francois and her
brother Melvin Cothern. She is survived by daughter Nicole Babu (Ashok) of Brentwood, TN,
sons Jason Francois (Elizabeth) of Apache Junction, AZ, Jason Maddux (Jem) of Silver City,
NM, daughter Lana Black (Cloid) of Auburn, IL, son Daniel B Carruthers (Lisa), of Ramsey, IL;
Stepdaughters Renee Brink (John) of Raeford, NC, Amy Graumenz (David) of Vandalia, IL, Lori
Moeller (Keith) of Kinmundy, IL, Denise Maroon (Ed) of Monticello, IL; and stepson, Bryan
Francois (Belinda) of Greenville, IL; as well as several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. !
Peggy continued to be very passionate about nursing and engaged in caring for others even
beyond retirement. She thoroughly enjoyed traveling and in her later years, loving and spending
time with her grandchildren - She will be sorely missed.!
A visitation will be held on Friday, August 23rd at Hatfield Funeral Home on South Highway 92,
Sierra Vista from 4PM to 7PM with a Celebration of Life Service to be held at First Baptist
Church, 1447 S 7th St, Sierra Vista. !
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, contributions be made in the name of Peggy
Francois to either the Copper Queen Community Hospital Foundation, Bisbee, AZ or Cochise
Christian School Tuition Organization, Sierra Vista, AZ
