His personal hobbies included raising and racing horses throughout Southern Arizona, woodworking, jewelry crafting, and oil painting, each of which reflected his meticulous attention to detail and his profound love for nature.
He is survived by his son, Paul Michael Kays of Whetstone; his brother, Joe Kays of Indianapolis; and was preceded in death by his parents, Paul Kays, Sr. and Virgia Griffith Kays, sisters, Wilma Jean Parks, Iva Mae Barnum, Janice Carol Clearwater and several nieces and nephews.
