Nilda Rosa (Roman) Townsend, of Sierra Vista, Arizona, passed away at the Bee Hive assisted care facility on the 9th of June 2026.
Funeral service, viewing and celebration of life will be held at Hatfield Funeral Home on 13 June 2026 between 10:00 am to 1:00 pm. There will be no burial because her request was to be cremated. If you would like to attend, the family wishes no black clothing be worn for the Celebration of Life.
Nilda was born in Arecibo, Puerto Rico to Juan Roman Vera and Carmela Acevedo Serrano on 12 May 1953. She went to Trina Padilla de Sanz high school in Arecibo and graduated in 1970. She went onto earn a bachelor's degree in Education. She spent her life dedicated to service, coordinating child and family resources for military families in Germany and for families all over Arizona here in Sierra Vista. She volunteered and served many roles for 32 years for the San Pedro Kiwanis and supported as advisor for Douglass High School Key Club, where she helped with multiple grants and scholarships, sharing the joy of service with future generations. One of her highlights of service was helping organize and create rooms for the yearly Halloween Sierra Vista Nightmare Haunted House. She loved Halloween.
Nilda is survived by her Husband Louie and adult children Edward and Elizabeth.
My dearest friend, if you don't mind... I'd like to join you by your side. Where we can gaze into the stars...
And sit together, now and forever. For it is plain, as anyone can see. We're simply meant to be.
~ Jack Skellington (A Nightmare Before Christmas)
