Louise R. Shryock, 86, a long-time Sierra Vista resident, passed away at home on July 17th, 2024 surrounded by her family.
She was born in Hope, Arkansas, and graduated from Yerger High School in Hope, Arkansas.
Louise is preceded in death by her father and mother, Booker T. and Mary B. Rhodes; three sisters, Mardean Bond, Irene Ford, and Earnestine Dotson; four brothers, James Rhodes, Junior Rhodes, Leo Rhodes, and Albert Rhodes.
She is survived by her husband Charles W. Shryock of Sierra Vista, Arizona, three children Robin L. Green of Vicksburg, Mississippi, Trina Stoney-Liggin (David), and Thomas P. Stoney Jr, both of Sierra Vista, Arizona, her sister Ethel Mae Conners of Hope, Arkansas, seven grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, one step great-granddaughter, and a host of other relatives and friends.
Louise enjoyed watching and participating in sports throughout her lifetime with bowling being her favorite. She was an avid bowler and participated in organized leagues beginning in the early 1970s in Asmara, Ethiopia, Africa, and continued non-stop until recently deciding to step away at the age of 84. Louise also played softball, volleyball, and always enjoyed spending an afternoon watching Major League Baseball. She had a beautiful singing voice and sang in several different choirs and groups which included collaborations with her sisters in Detroit, Michigan.
Louise had a very kind heart and was the most caring and giving person one could ever meet. Her sense of humor kept everyone laughing and her beautiful smile could light up a room. Her unconditional love and dedication to her family was her number one priority. Louise passed away as gracefully as she lived her life. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Services will be held at the Greater Antioch Missionary Baptist Church located at 147 S. Huachuca Blvd, Huachuca City, Arizona 85616 on August 10th, 2024 with the wake beginning at 1:00 p.m., and funeral service at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Larry Smith officiating.
A private burial will take place the following day at Southern Arizona Veterans Memorial Cemetery. All arrangements were made by Hatfield Funeral Home.
