Nancy Jo Beaver, the third daughter of Rollie and Donie (Edwards) Beaver, passed away in her home on Saturday, March 22nd.
She joined and served in the WACS US Army Core for 12 years, spending time in France and Hawaii. She was one of five WACS that were sent to Ft. Huachuca when the post was reopening. Nancy Jo was proud to have served in the US Army and then to remain attached to the base as a Civil employee until her retirement. Her nephew, Rollie Bil, and his sons Vincenzo and Dino, all three proudly served and retired from the military.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Aretta Hurst and Werdna Lee Niemczak, and her companion Gloria Strehlau.
She is survived by three nieces, Joan Pitts (Bill), of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Cassie Bryant (Larry) of Estherville, Iowa, and Dona (Senia) McCalister (Dewayne), from Ohio, and many great and great-great nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. In addition, she is survived by her best friend and caretaker, Linda Turner and her trusted four-legged little dog companion, Flo.
Her services with military honors will be at the Southern Arizona Veterans Cemetery on Buffalo Soldier Trail, Sierra Vista, Arizona, at 1:00 p.m., Friday, March 28th. If you plan to attend in person, please be at the cemetery 30 minutes in advance. For those that are unable to attend in person, Sheri Brainard will be providing a live stream of the service on her Facebook page. You should be able to watch the service while it is going on, or it will be saved there for a future viewing.
