Muriel Dean Lukens, a beloved Wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully in her sleep, on August 29th, 2025 leaving behind a legacy of love, strength, and kindness that will forever be cherished.
Born on March 20, 1934, to George and Anna Pierson, in Parson house Potawatomie County Kansas. Muriel graduated from Denison High School and Married Merle Wayne Lukens in 1951 and had three children, Joel, Kevin, and Coni.
Muriel is survived by her children, Joel Lukens and Coni Otto, her Grandkids, Claudette Fiore, Clarize Dianco, Clark Dianco, Robert Lukens, Ashlee Lukens, Aryk Lukens, Apryl Lukens, Mandi Jackson, Joel Lukens Jr. Peter Lesch, and Sonny Otto along with 15 great-grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren.
We celebrate the life of the best mother we could ever have been blessed with. She was a woman of deep faith who followed God’s teachings and instilled in us the values of integrity, compassion, and doing what is right.
Her strength held our household together, and her faith carried us through every challenge. She taught us lessons of perseverance, kindness, humility, and grace.
To her family, she was not only a mother but also a guide, a protector, and a constant source of unconditional love. Her legacy lives on in her children, grandchildren, and all whose lives were touched by her presence.
Muriel lived in the care of her Grandson Robert Lukens and his wife Stephanie Lukens in Arizona where they took care of her up until her death. Robert had promised his Grandpa Lukens he would take care of her before he died and he along with his wife kept that promise.
She is also remembered lovingly by her brother, Dale Pierson, and her sisters, Lois Pelton and Loretta Hundley, who shared in her life’s journey and treasured the bond they held together. She was also preceded in death by her siblings, Rita Jensen, Gary Lee Pierson and Mary May.
Muriel Lukens had many accomplishments throughout her life and working at Fort Huachuca Intelligence Center and School for 30 years and went on to work another 20 years at Defense Information System Agency testing and (JITC) Joint Interoperability Test Command. Muriel got countless awards and bonuses for finding lost money within the financial systems in these companies. She loved to work and decided to finally retire when she was 80 years old. She kept her resume on monster.com and was still getting calls for jobs well past 80.
Family and friends will forever remember Muriel’s warm smile, her strength in times of challenge, and her deep love that bound generations together. Her memory will continue to live on through the lives of her family and all who were blessed to know her. Muriel Lukens lived in Benson, AZ from 1968 until 1978 when they moved to Huachuca, AZ.
A celebration of Muriel’s life was held by her immediate family in a private ceremony, and she was reunited with her husband Merle Wayne Lukens through ceremony.
Though she is no longer with us, Muriel’s legacy of love and kindness will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of those who knew her. God Bless.
