Mickey Dorlene Farkas, long-time resident of Sierra Vista, AZ passed away in her home on March 4th, 2025 at the age of 85 surrounded by her close family and wonderful caregivers. Mickey was born in Rices Landing, PA on August 7th, 1939 to the Smalich family, the 4th of 6 children of Croatian heritage. At a young age, Mickey fell in love with her future husband Thomas (Tom) M. Farkas (surprisingly also of Croatian Heritage!) and were married in July 1958. Tom joined the Army and they were off traveling the world together and starting a family. Mickey was a devoted and loving mother to three children, Nick, Tommy, and Sandee. Once her kids were grown, Mickey decided to finish her associates degree and desired to go back to work. Mickey enjoyed working for a local radio station having numerous responsibilities including scheduling programs and accounting. She had a long career with the federal government where she enjoyed working as a budget analyst until the time she retired. Mickey, being a devout Catholic, also dedicated years volunteering for the local Catholic Church. After retirement, Mickey and Tom continued to travel the world, exploring in their RV and cruising with friends and family. She enjoyed playing cards, cooking Croatian specialties, bowling, dancing, and spending as much time as possible with her 3 wonderful children, 4 grandkids and 6 great grandkids always living life to their fullest! Mickey will be deeply missed by her very close family, her beloved dog, Daisy and her wonderful friends, neighbors, and dedicated caregivers. The family wants to express their sincere thanks to the exceptionally kind and loving caregivers who were there for her throughout this very difficult time. A celebration of life with be held at 4742 S. Equestrian Drive on March 22, 2025 at 3pm. Feel free to join us in celebrating Mickey’s life, a life well lived.
