Mary Joanne "MJ" Lawrence
February 26, 1945 - April 6, 2025
Mary Joanne "MJ" (Davies) Lawrence, passed away at her home surrounded by family on April 6, 2025. She was born February 26, 1945 in Tucson, AZ and moved to Sierra Vista, AZ in 1959.
She was daughter of Anthony and Mary Davies.
MJ received her general education at Buena High School in Sierra Vista, AZ. After attending Buena High School, MJ went to work for Civil Service on Fort Huachuca. As a government employee she had assignments in Germany and Korea as a Senior Computer Security Engineer with extensive travel throughout the United States and world-wide temporary duties. She retired from Civil Service at Fort Huachuca, Arizona with 31 years of service and went to work as a contractor for 13 more years after.
In 1966, MJ met the love of her life whom she lovingly called Dean and later on they eloped to Lordsburg, NM. In the late 1970's they had a Catholic mass and had a full-blown wedding at St. Andrews Catholic Church in Sierra Vista. They enjoyed 59 years of marriage. Together, they raised three children: Scott, Michael and Troy Lawrence.
MJ was a life member of the American Legion Auxiliary Post 52 for 49 years, Life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary, and previous member of the BPOE 2065.
MJ's hobbies included genealogy, crocheting, computers, traveling, and spending time with family and friends.
Left to cherish her loving memory is her husband, Dean Lawrence; children: Scott (Phoenix Romero) Lawrence, Michael Lawrence, Troy (Colleen) Lawrence; grandchildren: Chelsea Mros, Paul Mros, Cody Lawrence, and Raven Sunderland; as well as many dear friends, and many nieces and nephews.
