Mary Elizabeth Johnson, age 97 of Tombstone, AZ passed away peacefully at her home early in the morning of Sunday, December 14, 2025. Mary was born on Wednesday, August 8, 1928 in Mesa, AZ to Rufus & Dora Overstreet, the sixth child of nine. At a young age, Mary and her family moved to Tucson where she was raised and married her husband, Donald ‘D’ Johnson of nearly forty-four years. and raised three of her four children. She was a homemaker, but took on baby sitting jobs to earn extra money, where she unofficially adopted more kids. A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend, her life was a testament to kindness, faith and unwavering love for family. Her door was always open and her home was a safe haven for many family members.
Mary was an active member as a Jehovah Witness until her health slowed her down. Then her daughter, Debra introduced her to Zoom making it possible for her to follow her faith. She was preceded by her parents, infant daughter Mary Aileen, and her husband, Don. She is survived by her son, Daniel Johnson, daughters, Debra Shambaugh and Edie (husband, Terry) Koeppel, two brothers; Jim and John Overstreet, six grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
Please join us Saturday, January 3, 2026, at 2:00PM for a Memorial Service to be at the Jehovah Witness Kingdom Hall located at 506 E Bruce Street, Tombstone, AZ. A reception will be at the Kingdom Hall following the service.
