Mary Jane George

Mary Jane George of Sierra Vista, AZ passed away on April 30, 2024. She had family with her when she passed. She was the widow of Bill George. They shared 67 years together.

Mary Jane was born in Mitchell, SD. She was the daughter of Morris and Mary Gilbert of Huron, SD. She attended Huron Schools and graduated from Huron College with a degree in Early Childhood Education. She was a teacher in Bridger, MT, Basin, WY and Huron, SD for a total of 38 years.

Mary Jane belonged to the Presbyterian Church in Huron, SD and Sierra Vista, AZ. She taught children’s choir and sang in the choir. She was a past member of Delta Kappa Gamma, a member of FD P.E.O., the Sierra Vista Community Chorus, Painting class, Retired teachers, Huron SD saddle club, National Dancer/Camper Club, Square Dancing and Round Dancing clubs, both in SD and AZ. She and Bill taught hundreds to Square and Round Dance.

She is survived by her family, Marylin (Mike) Paulson, Kathryn (Chuck) Ross and Sue Ann (JP) Higgins, 3 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren and many extended family members.

The Funeral Services will be held 3:00 pm on Wednesday, May 8, 2024 at the Hatfield Funeral Home, with a private burial at the Southern AZ Veteran’s Cemetery, with her Bill.
