Sierra Vista-Marilia M. (Neto) Monteiro, 83, of Sierra Vista passed away peacefully Friday, February 7, 2020 surrounded by family at her home. Marilia, daughter of the late Manuel and Maria (Nascimento)

Neto was born in Sao Nicolau, Cabo Verdes Islands, Portugal on May 5, 1936.

Raised in Cabo Verde Island, she was educated and resided there for 22 years than lived in Dakar Senegal for 8 years before settling with her family in New Bedford, Massachusetts in 1968. Residing in New Bedford for 36 years she moved to Sierra Vista in 2004 and has been a resident for the past 16 years. Marilia was a communicant of St. Andrew the Apostle Catholic Church.

Marilia was fondly known as Lica to friends and family. Marilia’s daughter and Son-in-law were by her side when she peacefully went to see our maker. She was a caring person who loved to cook, talk to family and friends, enjoyed talking with and spending time with her Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren, and watching her novella’s.

Marilia was predeceased by her husband, Armandi Monteiro who was known by his friends and family as Arnald and her son Arnaldo and Rui Monteiro. She is survived by her daughter, Mercedes Navarro (Michael); her brothers, Francisco, Mario, and Manuel; Her sisters, Lurds, Ligia, Maria Lourdes, Alice, Lucilia, and Beatriz; Grandsons, Michael Jr., Arnaldo, and Orlando; Granddaughters, Angelique, Tatiana, Patricia, Michelle, Leanne, and 20 Great Grandchildren.

Visiting hours for Marilia will be held on Wednesday, February 19, 2020 from 5 to 7 pm at the Hatfield Funeral Home, 830 South Highway 92, Sierra Vista. Family and friends are asked to meet on Thursday, February 20, 2020 at St. Andrews the Apostle Catholic Church, 800 Taylor Street, Sierra Vista for the Mass of Christian Burial at 12:00 Noon. Rites of Committal and Interment will follow in Cochise Memory Gardens, Charleston Road, Sierra Vista.
