Madeleine (Maggie) White Lizama Obituary

Madeleine (Maggie) Rose White Lizama, a soul born under the warm skies of Tamuning, Guam, on November 9, 1957, has returned to the embrace of our Lord on June 6, 2024, in Sierra Vista, Arizona. She was 66 years old when she left us, after a valiant three-year battle with the unyielding grip of congestive heart failure

Maggie, the eldest of nine children, bore the mantle of caretaker with a grace that could only be described as divine. Her presence, a sanctuary of warmth, was a testament to her boundless capacity to nurture. Her home was a haven, a place where the lost and weary could find solace, where love was not just an emotion but a palpable essence that filled every corner. Her cooking, a symphony of flavors, was more than sustenance; it was a communion, a ritual that brought people together and wrapped them in her love. Her smile, radiant as the morning sun, lingered in the hearts of those fortunate enough to witness it.

Her life was a melody, underscored by the soulful strains of Elvis Presley, her favorite artist, whose music resonated deeply within her. Her affection for her family, both human and furry, was a testament to her expansive heart, a heart that knew no bounds and welcomed all into its embrace.

Maggie's journey began under the watchful eyes of her parents, William White and Beatrice Santos, and she was also lovingly raised by her stepfather, Gerald Day. As the eldest sibling, she was a guiding light to her brothers, Jose "Boy'a" White, William "Billy" White, Mark Santos, Franklin Santos, and Gerald "Jr." Day, and her sisters, Gloria "Jean" Garcia, Joyce White, and Donna Day. Each of them carried a piece of her spirit, a reflection of the love she so generously bestowed.

She walked through life hand in hand with her beloved husband of 44 years, Ignacio "Ike" Lizama. Together, they faced life's trials and triumphs, raising three sons, John Lizama (who preceded her in death), Ryan Keith Lizama, and Jacob Ross Lizama. Her legacy lives on through her grandchildren, Malia Lizama, Kealani Lizama, and Ryan Jr., and her grandfurbabies, Timone, Simba, Nala, Sophia, Pumbaa, and Marley.

Maggie's hands were skilled not just in the kitchen but in the meticulous world of accounting, where she worked as a payroll specialist for nonprofits, ensuring that the numbers sang harmoniously under her guidance. Though retired at her life's end, her spirit remained vibrant, finding joy in the casino's thrill, the rhythm of dance, the camaraderie of bowling, and the simple pleasure of baking treats for her loved ones.

Her final days were marked by a sudden, fierce decline, her health faltering as she moved in and out of hospital beds, the battle raging within her frail body. On May 30, 2024, she entered hospice care at her son Jacob's home, surrounded by the love and comfort of her family. It was there, in a place filled with the echoes of her laughter and the warmth of her love, that she took her final breath.

A rosary will be held in her honor at 10 am on Saturday, June 15, 2024, followed by a mass at 10:30 am at St. Andrews Catholic Church in Sierra Vista. Her final resting place will be at Cochise Memory Gardens, where a funeral service will commence at 12 pm.

Thank you for your compassion, your love, and your support.
