Loren Gutierrez Flores

Loren G. Flores May 20, 1935 - August 10, 2025

Loren G. Flores passed on 10 August 2025 at the age of 90 years old. She was a widow of twelve years when her husband Mariano O. Flores passed in 2013.

She was born and raised on a small farm in Jerez Zacatecas Mexico where the family grew corn, alfalfa, and raised cattle. Conditions on the farm then and through the late 70's were difficult with adobe structures for housing, no electricity or running water to the home. She would eventually go to California and find employment as a maid/baby sitter for a distant family member.

She would meet her husband, marry and raise three children in a little suburb in Hollydale California. While raising her children she would work a full time job for the Kmart Corporation and attend night school to learn English.

In the mid 80's she would suffer a work related injury and forced to retire and eventually moved to Nogales Arizona where she raised three grandchildren, Michelle, Candice and David. The family would move to Sierra Vista where she continued to raise her grandson as a teenager.

Loren attended mass at St. Andrew the Apostle Catholic Church and was well known as part of the congregation and in the community. She would continue to attend mass until her lack of mobility and dementia made it difficult for her to leave her home.

She is survived by her eldest son, grandchildren, great grandchildren and her estranged twins who she longed to see again.

Viewing hours will be held from 5:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m., Friday August 22 at Hatfield Funeral home, 830 S. Highway 92, Sierra Vista, AZ 85635.

Saturday, August 23, 2025, the rosary is scheduled for 10:00 a.m. followed by the service and mass at 10:30 a.m., located at St. Andrew the Apostle Catholic Church 800 Taylor Dr., Sierra Vista, AZ 85635 (no reception due to weekend service). The Burial is at approximately 11:30 a.m. at Cochise Memory Gardens, 5590 E. Charleston Rd., Sierra Vista, AZ 85636.
