Lois Vodacek Obituary

Lois Jean Vodacek, 77, of Sierra Vista, Arizona (formerly of Mazon, Illinois) died of natural causes on March 23, 2024.

She was born in Morris on Nov 8, 1946, to Thomas and Lois Marie Vodacek. Lois Jean attended Mazon schools and graduated from Mazon Township High School in 1964. She was a member of the high school band and during that time she felt honored to be invited to play Taps for the Memorial Day ceremony at the Mazon Brookside Cemetery.

Following high school, Lois Jean began her U.S. Civil Service career at the Joliet Army Ammunition Plant. In 1988, Lois relocated her Civil Service job to Sierra Vista, AZ to become a Budget Analyst for the U.S. Army at Fort Huachuca. She received many certificates of appreciation for her dedicated service. She retired on Jan. 31, 2006 and remained in Sierra Vista. Lois Jean attended a local church and had many church friends.

Lois Jean was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Lois Marie Vodacek and her sister-in-law Charlotte, all of Mazon. She was also preceded in death by her adorable furry pets Buffy and Buster. She is survived by her brother, Thomas Vodacek of Mazon and her sister, Patti (Stephen) Pierce of Roseville, California. She is also survived by her nieces, Debra (Mike) Sinnott of Verona, Rebecca (Eric) Luchini of Mountain House, California, Barbara (Cassie) Pierce of Roseville, California and her nephew, Troy (Kathryn) Vodacek of Urbana and their families, which include many great nieces and nephews.

Lois’s wish was to be cremated, and she will be buried in the Vodacek family plot at the Mazon Brookside Cemetery. Services will be private. Arrangements are being coordinated by the Hatfield Funeral Home in Sierra Vista and the U.C. Davis-Callahan Funeral Home in Morris.
