Lois Ann Delaney
September 5, 1929 ~ April 19, 2026
Lois Ann Delaney, 96, of Sierra Vista, Arizona, passed away peacefully in her home on April 19, 2026. She had been a resident of Sierra Vista for 29 years.
Lois was born on September 5, 1929, in the small coal mining town of Portage, Pennsylvania, the youngest of five children born to Charles and Hazel (Meinen) Leman—just weeks before the stock market crash of 1929. Over the course of her life, she experienced and weathered it all: the Great Depression, Pennsylvania floods, Missouri tornadoes, California earthquakes and wildfires, and even Hurricane Iniki while sheltering in a Kauai high school gymnasium.
A graduate of Angola High School and Angola Beauty College in Indiana, Lois owned her own beauty salon before marrying Edward G. Delaney. Together, they built a life centered around family, creativity, and entrepreneurship, including many years owning and operating a custom jewelry shop in Southern California.
Lois was a pianist, seamstress, beautician, painter, stained-glass artist, avid bowler, custom jewelry maker, and singer on radio and in nightclubs. A lifelong fan of space exploration, she was captivated by rocket launches, moon landings, and all things astronautical.
Lois and Ed shared a deep love for Hawaii and spent many years traveling to their second home on the island of Kauai before eventually retiring to Sierra Vista.
Lois was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Edward G. Delaney, the love of her life. She is survived by her two sons, Dennis Delaney of Sierra Vista, Arizona, and Michael Delaney (Valerie) of Sierra Vista, Arizona; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
A private celebration of Lois’s life will be held on April 25.
