In Loving Memory of Kim A. Broughton

Kim A. Broughton, aged 76, passed away on July 7th, at 8:47am surrounded by the love of his family. Born on October 27th, 1949, at Akron General Hospital in Akron, Ohio. Kim was the son of Hazel (Doolittle) Broughton and Jack Broughton.

Kim’s greatest joy in life was his family. His first marriage to Linda Swartz blessed him with his beloved daughter, Mary Lynn Schatz, and later two cherished grandchildren, Danica Schatz and Dru Schatz. During his second marriage to Joanne Broughton, Kim proudly adopted her son, David, whom he loved as his own. In his third and final marriage, Kim found his lifelong partner in Linda Swanson (Scritchfield) Broughton. Through their marriage, He welcomed two stepchildren, Amy Fitzwater & Michael “Mikey” Scritchfield and was blessed with another beloved grandchild, Briana Stephens.

Kim is survived by his loving wife, Linda Broughton of Sierra Vista, Arizona; his mother, Hazel Broughton of Akron Ohio: his daughter, Mary Schatz of Ohio, his stepchildren, Amy Fitzwater & Michael Scritchfield; his grandchildren, Danica Schatz, Dru Schatz and Briana Stephens; his brother; David Broughton of Ohio, His sister Becky Peffer of Ohio, and his sister Debra Hamilton of Ohio. He was preceded in death by his father, Jack Broughton.

Kim proudly ran the Golf Course on Anderson Air Force base in Guam, where he met the love of his life, Linda Swanson (Scritchfield). Together they built a life filled with adventure, laughter, and countless memories, wherever life took them They shared many wonderful years surrounded by family and lifelong friends.

Kim had a passion for speed and loved racing his Chevy Nova. He was known for his playful personality, quick witt, and ability to make everyone around him laugh. His grandchildren fondly remember hearing “Papa Lied.” As he would make up stories to convince his grandchildren to try new food or a new experience. He turned everyday moments into lifelong memories, including having them count to 100 before they jumped into the pool, so they would learn their numbers. Those simple moments became treasured family memories.

Above all, Kim was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, and friend. He loved his family deeply, especially his grandchildren, who brought him immeasurable joy. His kindness, humor, and steadfast love will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who were fortunate enough to know him. As he always said to his mom, Love you and miss you.
