Kathleen White Obituary

Kathleen Deming White January 26, 1947 - May 1, 2024 Sierra Vista - Kathleen Deming White, 77 of Sierra Vista passed into eternal life Wednesday morning, May 1, 2024, while traveling in Seine-Maritime, France.

Kathleen is the daughter of the late Gene and Connie Deming and was born in Cadillac, Michigan on January 26, 1947. She was raised in Cadillac, Michigan, and graduated from Cadillac High School in 1965. She continued her education and received a bachelor’s degree in English Literature from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, Michigan in 1969 after completing a final semester at The University of Texas in Austin.

Kathleen met Bob, her husband-to-be, during the summer of 1966 at a youth concert and dance. While Bob does remember the white dress and red ribbon she wore, he most often recalls that she was driving a White GTO Convertible with red leather seats. And, the chase was on until she caught him…or so she often said.

After High School, they continued dating while both attended the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, MI. After Bob’s graduation, they were married on August 31, 1968, and headed to Austin, TX, and The University of Texas for graduate school as new partners for life.

Above all things, other than family and friends, Kathleen loved the Army and travel. At one point when Bob was considering going back to graduate school, Kathleen called a family “Come to Jesus” meeting and pointed out that life in the Army met all of her expectations. There were good friends, good times, and lots of travel. Why were we even considering leaving? So we did not.

One of her favorite Army projects was to often organize Christmas Stockings for the Soldiers who did not go home over the Christmas Holiday. Taking old Army boot socks she would oversee having them decorated and filled for Christmas. No Soldier in the unit was forgotten.

But most importantly, she was always there for her family and friends. There were no scraps or birthdays that were overlooked. She kept a list. She listened well with both her heart and her head. Her message was always the same. Be Kind.

Kathleen has resided on Fort Huachuca and in Sierra Vista for the past 29 years and was a communicant of St. Andrew the Apostle Catholic Church.

Kathleen is survived by her husband Colonel (USA, Retired) Robert C White, Jr; a son, Colonel (USMC, Retired) Robert S White, his wife Christine and four grandchildren, Andrew, Mathew, Abigail, and Grace, Uvalde, TX; a daughter, Maureen W Love, her husband Mitch and a granddaughter Sarah, Cave Creek, AZ; a brother-in-law Douglas White, Sumner, MI; and a brother, Michael Deming and his wife Sandy, Cadillac, MI.

Family and friends are asked to meet on May 30, 2024, at St. Andrew the Apostle Catholic Church for the Recitation of the Rosary at 10:00 am followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 am.
