Julia Valdez, 90, of Tombstone, passed away on Wednesday, April 10, 2019.
She was born on March 27, 1929 in Michigan. The daughter of to Jose and Maria (Saldivar) Chairez.
At a young age they moved to El Salto, Durango where she grew up. She married Alfonso Valdez in Yuma, Arizona on July 28, 1975.
Mom was the greatest mother, grandma, wife and friend. She was a great cook and gardener. We were proud of her when she won 1st place at the fair with her beautiful petunias and also winning the Brawley Beautification Award twice. You would always see our mom working in her yard.
Our mom was a very loving, caring and charitable person. She would help family and strangers in need.
She was preceded in death by her parents; seven siblings; husbands Ramon Marquez, Clarence Petty, and husband of 40 years Alfonso Valdez; son Tony Marquez; two grandchildren, Jacob Petty and Juanita Necessary Strarigher.
She is survived by her children and spouses, Yolanda (Jesus) Arroyo, Ramon (Marta) Marquez, Maria (Jamie) Mendoza, Oscar (Sally) Marquez, Arthur (Susan) Marquez, Suzy (Bill) Necessary, Frank (Diane) Petty and Frances Petty; 28 grandchildren, nine step-grandchildren and many great-grand children.
Viewing at Frye Chapel will be held on April 24, 2019 from 6-9 PM. April 25 prayer service will be held at 10 AM at Frye Chapel followed by graveside services at River View Cemetery.
