Johnny J. Slaughter
Johnny J. Slaughter, passed away on March 5, 2025. He was 81 years old. Johnny was born in Brooklyn, New York on February 19, 1944. He was the son of the late John M. and Sadie (Bell) Slaughter. Johnny met his wife, Barbara Ann (Williams) Slaughter in New York, and they were married in October 1964. Johnny entered the US Army in September 1964 and he served meritoriously before his honorable retirement in 1987 as a member of the Senior Non Commissioned Officer Corps.
In October 1987, he entered the civilian workforce for the State Department and worked for the US Army Defense Information and Defense Network, providing direct communication to the office of the President, Vice President, Secret Service, and other departments as directed by the White House Military Office. Johnny retired after 49 years of federal service on February 29, 2012, ending his service at Fort Huachuca , Arizona.
Johnny and his wife Barbara traveled the world with the Army, including the Panama Canal, Norway, Japan, and several state side bases before retiring at Fort Huachuca and living out their retirement in Sierra Vista, Arizona. Together they raised three boys, Julius, Anthony, and Michael.
Johnny loved to watch football. His team was the Washington Commanders. He loved holidays when his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren would come home to visit and eat his famous brisket. Johnny, was preceded in death by his wife Barbara and his son Julius.
He is survived by his sons, Anthony and Michael, his grandchildren and great grandchildren, his sister and brother-in-law Charlene and Jeff Smith, his nieces and nephews, his dear friends became family Dan and Donna Gilbert, and many extended family and friends.
