John Whitney Ryan passed away suddenly from COPD on May 7, 2025, at the age of 62.  Born in New York State on December 27, 1962, he made his home in southern Arizona, where he built a life rooted in hard work, creativity, and quiet generosity.

A dedicated craftsman in the construction field for many years, John took pride in his skill and his ability to build and repair with his own hands.  Beyond his profession, he found joy in tending to his yard, filled with cacti and native plants, nurturing the natural beauty of the desert landscape he loved so much.

John will be remembered for his humility, kindness, and creativity, who gave of himself to his family, friends and his craft.

Preceded in death by his father John Ryan, Sr.  He is survived by his mother, Betty Ryan, his daughter, Raven Mathis (Cody), his sister, Lisa Ryan (Ron); his nephew, Kyle Ryan (Anjelica); and long time companion Deanna Reed along with her children, Lucas Reed and Logan Reed (Lexi) who grew to love him as family.  He was also deeply adored by two granddaughters who brought great joy to his life.

Services were held May 30, 2025.  John now resides at Cochise Memory Gardens.
