Jesus Escamilla
March 5, 1950 - October 18, 2021
Jesus (Jesse) Escamilla, 71, of Palominas , passed away on October 18, 2021 in his home with his wife by his side.
He was born on March 5, 1950 to Julian and Margarita (Alejandro ) Escamilla in Big Wells, TX. He attended school in Wheeling, IL, graduating from Wheeling High School. After graduating in 1969, Jesse worked for Illinois Bell Telephone Company from where he retired after 34 years. On April 24th, 1971 he married Ana Rios in Lake Zurich, IL. They grew their family by adding two sons, Christopher and Jon; and one beautiful daughter, Jennifer. Jesse and Ana raised their family in Carpentersville, Illinois before moving to Arizona in 2012. They made their home in Palominas close to the San Pedro River.
Jesse had a passion for gardening. You would often find him outdoors tending to the many plants or trees on his property. He took the most pride in the Concord grapes that he grew for many years. He was also a voracious reader of books. He could often be found, and will always fondly be remembered for, sitting in his favorite chair reading the newspaper or a newly purchased novel. He was also an avid foodie. He loved trying and discussing new dishes. His love of food inspired many great creations in the kitchen. His pecan pies, Spanish rice, fajitas, and chicken vegetable soup were just a few of his favorites to share with close friends and family. His generally quiet nature would be transformed when in the company of people he cherished. You would often find him telling stories and making people laugh with his quick sense of humor.
Jesse is survived by his loving spouse of 50 years, Ana Escamilla; children, Christopher (Renee) Escamilla, Jennifer (Norman) Bemis, and Jon (Amanda) Escamilla; siblings, Julian Escamilla, Bertha Wilson, Evangelina Robinson, Consuelo Escamilla, and Ramiro Escamilla; grandchildren, Maya and Henry; and his four-legged friends, Pepper, Molly, and Ploma.
He was preceded in death by his parents Julian and Margarita Escamilla: siblings, Reymundo and Jose: and his beloved dog Snoopy.
At the request of Jesse no services will be held at this time. Donations in his honor may be made to Lungevity Foundation at https://www.lungevity.org, or to your local gardening club.
