James Earl Sauble Jr., age 77, of Huachuca City, passed away on Tuesday, May 26, 2026. He was preceded in death by his parents, James Earl Sauble Sr. and Dorothy Sauble, and his sister, Loretta Siffrin. He is survived by his sisters, Joan Basler and Barbara Thompson, as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Born on September 30, 1948, in Baltimore, Maryland, Jim spent his formative years as the youngest of four children, sharing in the everyday experiences of family life and neighborhood friendships. He was drafted by the United States Army and proudly served his country from 1968 to 1969 which included a sixteen month tour of duty in Vietnam. Upon entering the workforce, Jim held positions at the City of Baltimore, Western Electric, and Bethlehem Steel. Among his many interests while in Maryland, he was an enthusiastic admirer of tropical fish and delighted in creating custom aquariums for friends and family. He also discovered a lifelong passion for motorcycles and spent countless hours rebuilding and customizing them.
Afters spending much of his life in Baltimore, Jim traded the snowy winters for the warmth and sunshine, and relocated to Florida. Florida remained his home for many years, during which time he worked for the State of Florida. He later relocated to Arizona, where he resided for more than 20 years until his passing.
Jim never lost his fondness for Maryland steamed crabs, a cherished favorite he enjoyed whenever possible, and one that he often found difficult to replicate after moving to others states. He had a natural talent as a handyman and was always ready to assist family and friends with projects of all kinds. In his later years, he also developed an appreciation for photography, frequently capturing Arizona’s scenery and landscapes.
He will be remembered for his generosity, his hands-on spirit, and the many ways he shared his talents with those he loved.
A memorial service will be held at the Southern Arizona Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Sierra Vista, at a later date.
