Jacqueline Jones
September 25, 1947 - March 6, 2021
Jacqueline Jones, 73, died on March 6, 2021 of injuries incurred in a vehicle crash in Sierra Vista, Arizona. Jackie was a devoted wife to David and mother to three children, Steve, Shannon and Wesley.
She is now in heaven with her daughter, Shannon and son, Wesley along with her parents, Nan and Jacques. Jackie is also survived by her daughter-in-law Alisa and three wonderful grandchildren, Katia, Zack and Sabine. Jackie was born in New York City on September 25, 1947 and, before leaving to attend nursing school at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, lived in Ridgewood, New Jersey.
During this period, she and her siblings, Peggy, John, Peter and Chris, spent many happy summers at their grandparents, Welsley & Geraldine’s home on Long Island. She met her husband, David at the U.S. Coast Guard Academy in 1965 and they were married on May 27, 1967. Jackie followed David to many different locations during his Coast Guard career, but enjoyed Kodiak, Alaska the most. David joked that she was trying hard to be named the fisherwoman of the year in Kodiak. Jackie and David moved to Sierra Vista, Arizona in 2005, and here she became interested in many things, gardening, quilting, gourd decorating, wreaths, wood carving etc. Jackie loved to travel and went to France several times for family reunions. Jackie loved all her cousins here in the U.S. and France and treasured each relationship she made. She went on cruises with David, her best friend Maria, and trips with her siblings, cousins and friends. Even though she suffered from recurring back problems, she happily spent long hours sitting at St. Andrew’s Catholic Church making items for the annual bazaars. Jackie’s heart was as big as the Arizona sky on a clear day. Her caring and compassion knew no limits. If any family or friends were in the hospital, Jackie was always there to sit with them and be there for them or provide support and assistance. When David’s brother Gary was diagnosed with cancer in January, Jackie was the first to visit him at Tucson Medical Center and was with him the next day at the hospice facility. The staff there provided her with a cot in Gary’s room and Jackie was holding his hand when he died in the early morning. Jackie was so loved by all who met her. She had a great love of food and wine and was usually the life of every party. She was the keeper of family history and the glue that kept all our family strong and we miss her so much already!
Services will be held at St. Andrew’s Catholic Church, 800 Taylor Dr, Sierra Vista, Arizona at 9:45 a.m. (rosary) and Mass at 10:30 a.m. on March 20, 2021.
