Glenda Davidson Obituary

GLENDA GAIL DAVIDSON
08/21/1940 – 02/14/2026

Glenda Gail Davidson (nee Hefner) was born August 21, 1940, as the first child of J.D. and Hazel Hefner in the tiny rural town of Qulin, MO, population 468 (2024 census).

Glenda attended Qulin High School and served as class secretary/treasurer in her senior year, graduating in 1958. She married in 1958, had three beautiful children, and divorced in 1972.

Her three children Kim, Anna and Tim Barr all revered their mother for everything she did for them, presenting her with a trophy as World’s Best Mom, Dad, and Friend in 1977. (The trophy has been placed with her in her afterlife receptacle so that her now not-so-adorable children don’t fight over it).

She later progressed to the status of beautiful and wise Glenda the Good Witch (because she always made magic happen) and on to Sainthood (at least, in her children’s eyes). Her children call her blessed and would fight any creature that threatened her. Yes, even a honey badger.

She raised her children to know they were loved beyond condition (and they certainly tested that), could be anything they wanted to be provided they were willing to work for it, taught them not to judge others and to always put family first. She moved her clan from St. Louis to Colorado Springs in 1979.

After raising her children, she met and married U.S. Army SSG Billy V. Davidson. They were stationed in Ansbach, Germany 1982-1985, and then sent to Ft. Huachuca in Sierra Vista, AZ, in 1985. They retired in Arizona shortly thereafter.

She valued her upbringing and her relationship with her brother and sister-in-law Dr. Stephen and Lana Mosley Hefner, both of Columbia, SC. Their children Megan (& Chris) and Channing (& Blake, Reagan, and Ellis) were her nieces and cherished greatly.

Glenda had many friends – and some accomplices – wherever she went in life. She worked as a secretary her entire life, 20 years of it for the U.S. Army in a civil service capacity.

She is preceded in death by her parents, J.D. (2006) and Hazel (1996) Hefner; her brother Darrel (1947); and her husband SFC (Ret.) Billy V. Davidson. She is survived by her brother Dr. Stephen W. & Lana Hefner (Columbia, SC); children Kimberly (& Doug, deceased) Finney (Colorado Springs, CO), Anna Barr & Joshua Blanck (Albuquerque, NM), and Timothy Barr & Colleen Garrison (Colorado Springs, CO); grandchildren Joshua Finney and Heather Finney (Colorado Springs, CO), and Shoshaunee & Chris Perez and great granddaughter BrycelynnPerez (Bellingham, WA).

The family would like to thank Chelsey Ruiz, FNP, of Wilde Desert Family Medicine, for her care of their mother in her last year of life. The love, compassion, and care that Chelsey and her assistant Blue showed their mother made the transition much easier.

Glenda’s memorial services will be held with visitation at Hatfield Funeral Home (Sierra Vista, AZ) on Thursday, February 19, from 4 to 7 p.m. She will be buried with Stewart Clan colors at Ft. Huachuca Post Cemetery at 10 a.m. Friday, February 20. Attendees must meet at the visitor center on Buffalo Soldier Trail/Fry Boulevard by 9:15 a.m. to be able to drive on post.

In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be made to your local animal or women’s shelter.
