Gilbert Garcia “Gil” Coronado, 75, of Bisbee, Arizona, passed away on January 27, 2026, at his home in Sierra Vista, Arizona.
Gilbert was born in Bisbee, Arizona, to José Angel Coronado and Sarah Garcia Coronado. He spent much of his life in Bisbee, where he attended Bisbee High School. In his younger years, Gilbert worked various jobs, including at the chili factory in Elfrida. He also worked as a packer and mover for Chaparral Van Lines, which later became Frontier Van and Storage, where he advanced to manager before retiring.
Gilbert enjoyed the simple things in life, especially spending time with his family and grandchildren.
Gil was an avid football fan. Those that knew his love of football knew that his favorite team was the Pittsburg Steelers.
He was preceded in death by his parents, José and Sarah Coronado; his wife, Jennifer Coronado; his sisters, Margaret Coronado, Amy Romero and Alice Pizano; and his brother, José Coronado.
Gilbert is survived by his daughters, Michelle Dabovich (Jeff) and Joanna Jongeward (Brandon); his sons, Michael Matthews and Justin Figueroa (Jennie); his sister, Jessie Chavez (Lupe Sr.); and his brother, Frank Coronado (Adela). He is also survived by his grandchildren, Jonathan Dabovich, Kaitlyn Dabovich, Amalia Ramirez, Josiah Matthews, Emalyn Matthews, Ryan Figueroa, and Lucian Degirolamo, and his great-grandson, Luka Dabovich, along with many nieces and nephews.
A time of gathering for family and friends will be held on Friday, February 6, 2026 from 9:00 - 11:00 AM at the Hatfield Funeral Home, located at 830 S Hwy 92, Sierra Vista, Arizona. Funeral services will begin at 11:00 AM. Committal services will immediately follow at Cochise Memory Gardens at 12 Noon.
