GERTRUDE (TRUDY) COTNER
January 18, 1932 - May 11, 2024
Gertrude (Trudy) Cotner passed away on May 11, 2024, in Sierra Vista, Arizona. She was a cherished mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, great- great grandmother and friend.
Trudy, a proud and loving military wife, touched the lives of many with her gentle yet feisty spirit. She supported her husband throughout his military career, living in various locations across the US and Europe. Prior to her retirement, she could often be found at the Ft. Huachuca Commissary, where she enjoyed interacting with others while handing out coupons or doing demos. Trudy found joy in playing bingo, traveling, dancing, and listening to music.
Devotion to family and faith defined Trudy's life. Known for her kindness, she leaves behind a legacy of love and unwavering dedication to her family.
Born on January 18, 1932, in Brooklyn, New York, to Anna and Joseph Volk, Trudy was predeceased by her parents, her husband Robert Paul Cotner, her brother Helmut Volk, and sons Raymond Anthony and Gerald Wayne Cotner. She is survived by her daughter Michele (Terry) Bowmaster, sons Toby (Mendy) Cotner and Edward (Jennifer) Cotner, sister Inge Lerro, as well as numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great- great grandchildren.
A Mass will be held at St. Andrews Apostle Catholic Church, 800 Taylor Dr., Sierra Vista, on May 24 at 10 am. A private family interment will follow at Ft. Huachuca Cemetery, where Trudy will be laid to rest beside her husband. Arrangements are being handled by Hatfield Funeral Home.
