George Washington Norris Jr.
January 3, 2025 - July 18, 1953
Staff Sargeant (Ret) George W. Norris Jr. passed away on January 3, 2025, at the age of seventy-one. He grew up in Spartanburg, South Carolina, but long since retired and made Southern Arizona his home.
As a young man in South Carolina George worked for Michelin Tires and as a paramedic.
He answered the call of duty and joined the US Army, serving tours in Korea and Iraq. George arrived at Ft. Huachuca in 1994 where he served in Preventive Medicine and Industrial Hygiene. Once retired from active duty he continued his career as a civil-service employee. His professionalism, kindness and dependability will be remembered by all who worked with him.
After retirement, you could find George working on his favorite car, exercising, helping friends with whatever they needed, enjoying delicious meals, catching the latest movie, hanging out with friends or just at home enjoying television.
His parents George W. Norris and Laura B. Norris preceded him in death.
George leaves behind a host of great friends and colleagues.
Military Honors will be held at Southern Arizona Veterans Memorial Cemetery on January 30, 2025, at 12:30 p.m. Pastor Emeritus Rev. Shawn L. Buckhanan, Officiating.
Following his interment, a Celebration of Life will take place at Linda's Lounge, 211 Bartow Dr., Sierra Vista, AZ.
