Gary Wagner Obituary

Gary Lee Wagner, 85, of Sierra Vista, AZ, entered eternal rest with our Lord on October 15, 2024. Born to John and Carrie Wagner in September, 1939, Gary was the youngest of 11 children. He was raised in Council Bluffs, IA. Gary graduated high school in Council Bluffs, IA before he joined the Navy in 1957. Gary retired a Senior Chief from the Navy in 1992.

Gary met his Beautiful Bride, Patricia Romero, in Washington, DC in 1960. Pat was also serving in the Navy. They married in June, 1961 and built their lifetime together of 63 years. Together they raised their four children. Carol Wagner of Portland, OR. Patricia and (Henry) Meyers of Park City, MT. Gary John and (Susan) Wagner of Billings, MT. And Joseph F Wagner of Tucson, AZ. The Wagner's packed up from Alexandria, VA in June 1973 to put down roots in Billings, MT and be close to family. Gary was baptized at Our Lady of Guadalupe and began his life growing with and serving Christ.

Gary was the most dedicated loving husband, father, grandfather, and faithful brother and friend to all who were in his life. His many nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and great grandchildren will miss him dearly. Gary and Pat chose Sierra Vista, AZ for their retirement years in 2001. They faithfully attended and served the community of Our Lady of the Mountains for over 20 years. Their family and friends of the church were always top priority in their lives. They spent years in the Young at Heart Program. He also was an Usher and Eucharistic Minister. Gary also was a Third Degree Knight with the Knights of Columbus. Gary loved woodworking. He created many cherished name plates, benches, etc. for all of his loved ones. He often sent out many pictures of flowers and birds of all kinds from his back yard. Gary and Pat especially loved their hummingbirds.

A Rosary for Gary will be Tuesday December 10, 2024 at 9:30 a.m. and a Funeral Mass will follow at 10 a.m.

The social gathering for friends and family will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the church hall.

At 1:30 the gathering for Interment will be at the columbarium at Ft Huachuca with a chapel service for honors at 2 p.m.
