Francis Grant Hickman 84, passed away peacefully in his sleep on October 24, 2023. He was born October 12, 1939, to George Francis Hickman and Shirley Lyman Hickman.
He and his wife Ruth Nims were high school sweethearts graduating from Orleans American High School in France. They were preparing for their 60th wedding anniversary.
He is survived by his wife Ruth, his son Chris (Kim), and grandchildren Kesmine and Wilson. Grant had one sister, Georgeann “Hi” McNaughtan (Bill) and too many nieces and nephews to list.
For many years, Grant was the owner/broker of RE/MAX Homestores, now known as Arizona Homestores.
He proudly served in the U.S. Army, including a tour in Vietnam and two tours in Korea. When Major Hickman retired, he and Ruth chose to retire in Sierra Vista. They never regretted that decision.
Grant loved camping, fishing, hunting, traveling, hot air ballooning with his amazing staff and friends as crew, golf, bowling, and his much-loved dog Molly.
He was known by his family as “the dog whisperer.” He was a generous, kind, and loving man who would be missed by all who knew him.
According to Ruth, he was not just a good husband, he was a great one.
There are currently no services planned. The interment will be at Southern Arizona Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
